Emma L. Bowen Foundation For Minority Interests In Media: Established by the media industry to increase access to permanent job opportunities for minority students. Duke University is now offering exciting news concerning their financial aid. Parents whose incomes total $60,000 or less no longer have to contribute financially to their child's education. For families with incomes of $40,000 or less, they have eliminated student loans, and reduced them for families with incomes up to $100,000. Also, all merit scholarships now provide full tuition, room, board, and fees; a value of almost $50,000 a year. Come to Guidance to pick up a contact sheet.

Calumet College of St. Joseph is offering a creative performance scholarship for seniors interested in art careers including teaching, graphic design, photography, and advertising. Interested seniors must: Major in Media/Fine Arts area, plan to pursue some sort of art career, work on two public art works, and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher. Southern Illinois University-Carbondale is offering the Roscoe Pulliam Memorial Scholarship. The criteria includes: child, grandchild, or sibling to an alumni of SIUC who is a current member of the SIU Alumni Association; admitted or currently enrolled undergraduate student with a minimum of 12 semester hours; new freshmen must rank in the top 10% of his/her class and score at least a 26 on the ACT or 1170 on SAT; 3 letters of recommendation: 2 from clergy, SIUC faculty/staff, or a person(s) who can attest to one's moral constitution; and 1 from the relative holding current Alumni Association membership; other requirements can be found at www.siualumni/pulliam or on the college board next to the Seton gym.

Eastern Michigan University (EMU)- The Presidential Scholarship Competition (PSC) will take place on December 1st and December 8th. The competition is open to students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher and qualifying ACT or SAT score. The deadline for qualifying students to register for the PSC is November 21st, however students registering after that date can do so by paying a late fee. Harvard University announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families will pay NO TUITION. In making the announcement, Harvard's president Lawrence H. Summers said, "When only 10 percent of the students in elite higher education come from families in lower half of the income distribution, we are not doing enough. We are not doing enough in bringing elite higher education to the lower half of the income distribution." If you know a family earning less than $60,000 a year with an honor student graduating from high school soon, Harvard University wants to pay their tuition. This prestigious university recently announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families can go the Harvard for FREE.. NO TUITION and NO STUDENT LOANS!! Kentucky State University - The Destiny Tuition Waiver Program reduces the standard tuition and fee rate for students from Cook County among 5 other counties in Illinois.
