  • Harvard University
    Harvard announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families will pay NO TUITION. To find out more about Harvard offering free tuition for families making less than $60,000 a year, please visit Harvard's financial aid web site at: www.fao.fas.harvard.edu or call the school's financial aid office at 617.495.1581.
  • Calumet College of St. Joseph
    Calumet College is offering a creative performance scholarship for seniors interested in art careers including teaching, graphic design, photography, and advertising. Interested seniors must: major in media/fine arts area, plan to pursue a career in art, work on two public art works, and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher.   • 2008 Imagine America Scholarship Program
    Students who possess at least a 2.5 GPA and plan to enroll in a participating career college are eligible. Those colleges are listed in the Imagine America web site at www.imagine-america.org.
  • Graduating Seniors of Italian Descent
    If you have at least a 3.2 GPA are invited to apply for the Italian Catholic Foundation Scholarship. Applications can be picked up in Guidance.
  • Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
    Delat Sigman Theta Sorority, Inc. is offering a $1,000 scholarship for students whose high school has a "604" zip code. The student must have at least a 2.5 GPA and proof of acceptance to an accredited college or university. Applications can be picked up in Guidance.
  • Junior Achievement
    Juinior Achievement has several college scholarship opportunities for seniors who have participated in JA in elementary, middle, or are participating in a JA program in high school. Applications and more information can be found at www.jachicago.org.
  • Duke University
    Duke is now offering exciting news concerning their financial aid. Parents whose incomes total $60,000 or less no longer have to contribute financially to their child's education. For families with incomes of $40,000 or less, they have eliminated student loans, and reduced them for families with incomes up to $100,000. Also, all merit scholarships now provide full tuition, room, board, and fees; a value of almost $50,000 a year. Come to Guidance to pick up a contact sheet.
  • Illinois Institute of Art
    Combine your talent with your competitive drive and spend a day creating unique designs. Gain hands-on experience and the ability to earn scholarships and software.   • New York University
    New York University is offering Steihnhardt School of Culture, Educano, and Human Development Future Educators Scholarships. Scholarships range from $1K - $15K for students who are offered admission to one of the teacher education curricula that lead to certification at the early childhood, childhood, and secondary level. Nomination for has to be faxed to NYU by September 19th; interested Seton students need to come to Mr. Thornton's office before then for possible nomination.
  • Washington University
    Washington University in St. Louis is offering the Danford Scholarship Program where students may receive full or partial tuition scholarships. These scholarships are renewable each year of the duration of the degree program. Nomination form is due October 15th; interested Seton students need to come to Mr. Thornton's office before then for possible nomination.
  • Emory University
    Emory University in Atlanta, GA is offering the Emory Scholarship Program. Up to 4 students can be nominated and the nomination form and student application are due November 1st; interested students need to come to Mr. Thornton's office before then for possible nomination.
  • Goizueta Business School
    This school is the 5th best business school in the U.S. ranked by Business Week. The Goizueta Business School Scholars Program offers support for 4 years of undergraduate study, including study abroad options, and ranges from 2/3 of tuition to full tuition and fees. Only 1 senior can be nominated. Nomination forms are due by November 1st; interested Seton students need to come to Mr. Thornton's office before then for possible nominations.
  • Horatio Alger Scholarship
    Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA, involvement in community service and co-curricular activities, must demonstrate financial need (preferably $50,000 or lower adjusted gross income). Applications are due by October 30th and are available in Mr. Thornton's office. Applications can be submitted to www.horatioalger.com/scholarships.
  • Gates Millenium Scholarship
    This scholarship is available to African-American, American Indian, Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American students. Students must have an accumulative unweighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale and have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular's, or other activities. Students must meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria (must complete FAFSA). Applications must be submitted online by January 12, 2009 at 11:59pm EST or by paper on or before January 12, 2009.   • Dayton University
    Dayton is a top 10 national Catholic university and is offering 4 different scholarships. In 2007, UD stduents received nearly $44 million in scholarships and grants. Top students can receive as much as $100,000 over a four year period. The scholarships are as follows:
    Trustee's Merit Scholarship: Minimum A average; 31-36 ACT or 1410 - 1600 SAT; $50 - $100K over 4years
    President's Merit Scholarship: Minumum B+ average; 29 - 36 ACT or 1280 - 1600 SAT; $36 - $45 K over 4 years
    Dean's Merit Scholarships: Minimum B average; 24 - 28 ACT or 1090 - 1270 SAT; $30 - $45 K over 4 years
    Father Chaminade Award: Minimum B average; 21 - 23 ACT or 1000 - 1080 SAT; $20 - $20 K over 4 years
  • University of Missouri - Business Scholarships
    Trulaske Scholarships: Worth $7,000; ACT composite of 22-27; applicant should be outside of the top 10% of their class but in the top 2/3; application deadline is February 1, 2009.
    Cornell Leadership Program: 28 ACT or 1250 SAT; top 15% of their senior class; previous leadership experience; essay; letter of recommendation
    Vasey Academy: Scholarship for minority students who are pursuing a Business or Accountancy Degree; $5,000 renewable; based on ACT/SAT score; class rank; financial need; ethnicity; geographic location
    Walton Scholarship in Business: ACT composite of 27-36; top 10% of their class; interest in retail; must work part-time in a retail industry at least 10 hours per week while receiving this scholarship; application deadline is February 1, 2009.
  • Indiana State University
    A full tuition scholarship opportunity awaits students interested in a career interested in a career in financial services. The Networks Scholarship Program offers a four-year, full tuition scholarship to Indiana State. a professional development account worth $3,000, a laptop, leadership and professional development training and opportunities, access to internship opportunities, opportunities for international travel, and faculty and corporate mentor sponsorship. To be eligible you must apply and be accepted to Indiana State, major or minor in one of the academic programs offered in the College of Business, intend on pursuing a career in the financial services industry, have a high school GPA of 3.25 or higher (non-weighed), and ACT of 21 or SAT Reasoning test verbal and math score of at least a 1000 out of 1600.

  • 100 Black Men of Chicago
    100 Black Men of Chicago is sponsoring their annual College Scholarship Fair on Sunday, November 1st at the UIC Forum (Roosevelt and Halstead) from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Juniors and seniors can get more information or register at www.100bmc.org. They will also host a Honors Student Reception on Friday, October 31st at the Chicago Cultural Center located at 78 East Washington from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. This invitation reception is only for students who have a minimum 3.3 GPA and a minimum 23 on the ACT or SAT score of 1590. For both events, students should be prepared with multiple choices of test scores, transcripts, letters of recommendation, personal essays, and personal resume. Students should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • Entrepreneurial Scholarship
    The McKelvey Foundation will award $40,000 scholarships to students who have started their own business. See Ms. Simari for pamphlets.
  • Riceland/Univision Radio Scholarship Program

  • Simpson College (IA)
    Sesquicentennial Scholarship Program awards range from $11,000 to full tuition. See Mr. Thornton for more information.
  • KFC Scholars
    The online scholarship application will be available from December 1st to February 10th at kfcscholars.org. Applicants should have at least a 2.75 GPA.
  • Paramount Tall Club of Chicago
    1 scholarship is available that is worth $750 and will be awarded to a high school senior who lives in the Chicagoland area. Young men should meet the height requirement of 6.2 or higher, and young women should be at least 5'10" or taller.

    College Illinois! the state's prepaid tuition program, recently launched its 10th annual enrollment period. Designed for families who are seeking ways to ease the cost of a college education for their children, a College Illinois! plan locks in a price that will cover future tuition and fees, eliminating the impact of tuition inflation.   • Ada S. McKinley Educational Services
    Ada S. McKinley Educational Services is sponsoring trips to Wartburg College (Waverly, IA) on Novermber 7 -8. The cost of the trip is FREE!!! Requirements to attend: unofficial transcript, 2.5 GPA or higher, proof of income (2007 1040 tax return, public aid medical card, SSI statement, or affidavit of no income). Students must have a completed folder and application in the Ada S. McKinley offices by November 3rd for Wartburg.
